The Replacement

Replacing behaviors with other unhelpful behaviors and reasoning that the replacement behavior is better doesn't help you move forward. Examples such as you want to stop drinking alcohol, however you stop drinking liquor and reason to drink only wine as you reason wine is better than drinking liquor. However, you may start to consume increased amounts of wine overtime or even reintroduce liquor with conditions such as once a week that will soon fade. Thus, your back at the start as you reasoned your way back into the behavior you wanted to change. This is just one of the ways that we rationalize things we want to stop doing in an effort to help ourselves for reasons we've identified. This in no way is meant for individuals who are going through any form of dependency and are involved in or seeking professional help. This is a general example of how we rationalize behaviors, which can be done if you're wanting to work on your diet and you rationalize that instead of eating cake you"ll eat cookies, but then you start to eat more cookies and then eventually go back to eating cake with co editions that will eventually fade. There are many examples that can be given here but the point is that you have to be cautious of what you're replacing a behavior with, because most likely if it falls in the same category then it's going to affect if you'll reach the desired end result. Life gives us many options to use as a substitute, however we have to be cautious of what we're substituting with because if it's not going to help us to reach our overall goals then maybe it's not worth the consideration. The results you earn are based on the effort that you put into achieving your desired outcomes as always the choice is yours.
