Making It Through

We tell ourselves one day at a time

Yet we know it's not always with ease

We may have feelings that are pulling us in conflicting directions

Still we push through

At times we feel as if we have reached the end of our fight in a battle we didn't initiate

Yet we know we won't give in because we can't

Hope hangs on by a thread yet it remains

Smile lines fade into a frown

The pain of thinking we made a mistake

The heartache of feeling we did something to deserve this

The well is empty as the tears have left stains on a once bright face

Eyes cast down hands lifted high

The Why's that will never be answered

Finally it's time to rest

Awakening into the unknown
