Too often, we get caught up in what is beyond our control or allow ourselves to get consumed by other people's issues. What can we control? What we do or decide not to do in the present. Does this situation impact you? No, because it has nothing to do with my life and my problems. Then why do we get so bent out of shape about things unchangeable or have no attachments to our life? We get used to the nonsense, and we dive right into the drama as soon as we have the opportunity to engage. Let it be. No matter how hard we cling to it, the past is over and done; we cannot change a thing. Other people's issues are precisely that, their issues. We can lend an ear, be supportive, give some advice, and offer encouragement, but then we must let it go. We do not have to re-engage just because someone brings up the topic again; we can politely decline. Let it be and see how free life can become when we live in the present, over which we have some control.
