Hold It Together

I try to hold it together as best I can.

You can't see me broken and afraid.

I try to contain my feelings yet at times they rush out like a waterfall breaking a damn and destroying a village.

The damage this flood of emotion seems to do as I think I release yet so much is pent up inside so I hide.

I hide from judgment and appearing weak.

Pain and disappointment tucked behind a facde of courage.

Little do you know I'm one step away from crumbling like a cracker at the bottom of a bag.

Forgotten and soon to be discarded.

The broken pieces haunt my dreams and play games with my mind during my waking hours.

How confused I feel inside this emptiness. Like a deserted island I'm all alone. Searching for my way.

Searching for myself.

Searching for everything that I never had and everything I hope to have.

Yet I hold it together.
